Making art gives inmates an opportunity to prove themselves, that they are more than their mistakes in the past. When they are given enough space and trust, they are able to create works of art that are beautiful and appreciated by many people.

Prison Art shows the works of inmates who took part in the Painting Competition for Inmates held by the Second Chance Foundation in 2021. Amidst all the limitations and focus of attention on hopelessness, it turns out the inmates have the potential to be visually creative.

Through the painting competition held by correctional facilities, detention centers, and juvenile detention centers, Second Chance made Indonesia one of the important points in the conversation on national (and even international) arts and culture, and has increasingly developed the creativity of Indonesian arts.
Beyond that, for inmates who are lucky enough to get a second chance, the experience of being creative in prison is a hope, so that they can endure going through the difficult times and can be creative again in society when the time comes.
